Are your investments aligned with God’s purposes?

Most investment advisors help you earn a competitive rate of return, minimize risk, and avoid taxes. Some might even guide you in Biblically Responsible Investing (BRI) by reactively screening out investments that don’t align with your moral or ethical values. Steward Advisors Group goes further, guiding you toward Proactive Values Investing (PVI). PVI proactively deploys investment capital so that God’s eternal purposes are achieved and Jesus is purposefully made known and glorified in the marketplace. Whether you’re saving for retirement in an IRA, putting your children through college using a 529 Plan, or building a portfolio of investments as a legacy, we will help you integrate your faith into how you invest financial resources.

Grow beyond avoiding “sinful investments” and start pursuing God’s redemptive purposes for the world by investing in “great commission companies” to build the kingdom of heaven among the least reached and most impoverished.

He [The Lord] has told you what He wants, and this is all it is: to be fair, just, merciful, and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8 TLB)

Invest with Eternal Purpose

Most likely, you willingly give away a percentage of your earned income through charitable donations. Did you know you can also deploy investment capital for God’s purposes?

We can achieve both eternal and temporal change with the financial resources that God has entrusted to us by investing in missional businesses that prioritize outcomes like poverty alleviation, human trafficking relief, and discipleship in least-reached communities, not just for individual financial gain.

Steward Advisors Group specializes in helping you identify, understand, manage, and deploy all assets God has entrusted to you. Our advisory services help you develop a cohesive plan that honors your spiritual gifts and motivations, your passions and calling, and your personal financial goals.

Together we can spread the hope, joy, and freedom God offers in His kingdom.

Don challenges us to consider what it really means to be a steward of God’s money.

What is a Steward Investor?

A steward is one employed to manage the affairs of an owner. The owner trusts the steward to act in the owner’s interest. A steward knows the resources under management are not their own.

We are stewards of what belongs to God, the True Owner. Our entire portfolio—our savings, investments, IRAs, 401(k)s, retirement nest eggs—all of it actually belongs to God. He has tasked us to be His stewards, using those resources to accomplish His goals. In financial terms, we are God’s fiduciary, under compulsion to act in His best interest, not just our own.

A Steward Investor, then, deploys their assets in recognition of God’s ownership and cares deeply about serving God in all areas of their life, including their portfolio. He or she aligns investments with their values and proactively invests in redemptive businesses that bring salt and light to a broken world by addressing social injustices, caring for the environment, and bringing the Gospel to the lost. They believe they should build treasure in heaven and therefore they direct their investments toward eternal outcomes, not temporal comfort.

“Tell those rich in this world’s wealth to quit being so full of themselves and so obsessed with money . . . . Tell them to go after God . . . to do good, to be rich in helping others, to be extravagantly generous. If they do that, they’ll build a treasury that will last, gaining life that is truly life.”

1 Timothy 6:17-19, (The Message)

Build God’s Kingdom on Earth

Highland Harvesters and its investors are producing apples and bringing blessings previously unknown to the people of the southern Ethiopian highlands.

Highland Harvesters is an agribusiness that grows and processes fruit for the flourishing of people and communities across Ethiopia. The orchard, located at the intersection of three people groups who have fought against one another for generations, launched in 2014 amidst extreme poverty, tribal conflict, and spiritual darkness.

Already, the shoots and buds of restoration are becoming visible as members of all three tribes now work together, planting and cultivating 48,000 apple trees and worshiping side by side in the orchard on land which previously saw battles and bloodshed.

Here’s how the first commercial apple orchard in Ethiopia is pursuing what we call Quadruple Bottom Line (QBL) outcomes:

When we move money from where it is piled up to where it’s needed, we further God’s work of freedom, justice, care for the poor, and defiance of the world’s systems of greed and inequity.
